SP4 - E4 - United States Army - 11B20 - Infantryman B Company, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry 196th Light Infantry Brigade
A Company, 3rd Battalion, 22nd Infantry 4th Infantry Division
20 Years Old Long Bottom, Ohio September 21, 1946 to March 21, 1967
James served with B Company, 3/21st, 196th LIB, but was killed while
serving with A Company, 3/22nd, 4th Infantry Division. He was transferred to the 4th Infantry on March 18th, and was only with them three days until his death at LZ Gold.
This picture is one of the two Quad-50's that were at
Soui Tre. This could be the one James was manning at the time of his death, as
stated in The Bronze Star Award. James, seeing the piece was threatened to be overrun, maneuvered to the gun to try to keep it out of VC hands.
