The Dala (pronounced daw-lah) Horse is a Swedish and Swedish-American
icon from the Dalarna province of Sweden where craftspeople have carved
and painted the small wooden horses for generations. The Swedish pioneers
who founded Lindsborg and Bethany College brought Dala Horses with them
to remind them of their homeland. They were toys for children and family
heirlooms. Several decades ago the Dala Horse was adopted as Lindsborg's
