Rita Goben (Lake) remembers Lloyd...
I read an article in the Free Press newspaper published in Hillsboro, Kansas about this site. Since my uncle was killed in Vietnam, I thought
I'd go see if he was listed on the site. To my surprise his senior picture was there. I was a senior in high school when we learned about Lloyd's
death. The family was devastated. Lloyd was the first young man from Salina to be killed. I will never forget the day we buried him, it was so
very cold. It's hard to believe it has been 43 years. Lloyd was a great uncle, actually more like a brother since we were close in age. I remember
when he left Salina in September, 1965 to leave on his journey to Vietnam, it was scary. A lot of my friends from the school I attended also went to
Vietnam. They were lucky enough to come home. Thank you for creating such a wonderful web site!
