Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 9, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Faces On The Wall (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this Policy. The Service is a public photo mosaic — see “Public information” below.

1. Information we collect

2. Public information

The photo, name, message, hashtags, links, and location you add to the wall are public by design and visible to anyone, and may be indexed by search engines or shared by others. Please do not submit anything you want to keep private.

3. How we use information

4. Service providers we use

We share limited data with vendors who process it on our behalf: hosting and compute (Vercel), database (Neon), image storage (Cloudflare R2), rate-limiting/cache (Upstash), automated content moderation (Sightengine), and payments (Stripe). Each processes data under its own terms and only to provide services to us. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Cookies and local storage

We use essential cookies/local storage to remember that you’ve entered the wall, your saved faces, your own face(s), and to prevent duplicate waves. We do not use these to build advertising profiles.

6. Optional face-analysis features

If we offer optional look-alike or face-matching features, they are opt-in and process facial-geometry data only with your express consent and only to provide that feature. You can withdraw consent and request deletion at any time. Where such processing is restricted by law (e.g., certain U.S. states or the EU/UK), the feature may be unavailable.

7. Retention and deletion

We keep Your Content while it is on the wall. You can request removal of your face and information at any time by emailing privacy@facesonthewall.com from a verifiable channel; we will remove it within a reasonable time, subject to backups and legal obligations. Technical logs are retained only as long as needed for security and legal purposes.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@facesonthewall.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them. Our legal bases for processing include your consent, our legitimate interests in operating the Service, and compliance with law.

9. International transfers

We and our providers may process data in the United States and other countries whose laws may differ from yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

10. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has submitted data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes

We may update this Policy; the “Last updated” date reflects the latest version. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
